Welcome to Ridgeline Middle School
Ridgeline Middle School is a testament to the incredible support of our community, made possible through the successful passage of the 2022 Bond. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to serve up to 900 students, providing them with an innovative and dynamic learning environment. Spanning over 40 acres, the campus features a stunning turf football stadium, a running track, and ample green spaces for both students and staff to enjoy. Inside, the school boasts spacious science labs, a cutting-edge design lab, a maker space classroom, FACS and Industrial Arts labs, and several collaboration areas that foster creativity and teamwork. Students also benefit from an integrated library, two gymnasiums with an upstairs running track, and a wrestling room. Ridgeline Middle School is more than just a school—it's a hub for learning, growth, and community.
GO DRAGONS!
Principal | Josh Mallicoat
It is an absolute honor to serve as the Principal of Ridgeline Middle School. With 26 years of experience as a teacher and principal, primarily at the middle school level, I have developed a deep passion for connecting with students and helping them grow into respectful, resilient, and goal-oriented young adults. I am committed to creating an environment where every student feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential.
I was born and raised in Iowa, and spent the majority of my adult life in Wisconsin before my wife and I made the exciting move to Windsor in June of 2024. We’ve quickly fallen in love with the community, and I am thrilled to be a part of this wonderful school and town.
Outside of school, I enjoy staying active with activities such as cycling, hiking, hunting, and fishing. I am a firm believer in the importance of balance—both for myself, my staff, and for the students I work with—and enjoy spending time outdoors whenever possible.
I look forward to a great year ahead, working alongside the talented staff, amazing students, and supportive community of Ridgeline Middle School!
Assistant Principal | Melanie Butler
I am excited and honored to serve as your assistant principal here at Ridgeline Middle School. For the past 16 years, I’ve had the privilege of working in the Weld RE-4 School District across three different schools. My journey has included teaching kindergarten through second grade, working as a primary interventionist, and most recently serving as an MTSS Coordinator and Learning Coach at the middle school level.
As an educator, I deeply believe in nurturing and supporting the whole child. It’s essential that we foster strong, positive partnerships between students, staff, and families to create a community where everyone feels valued and empowered. Together, we can help all students develop into respectful, responsible, and engaged members of our school and beyond.
I look forward to working alongside you all to make this year one of growth, collaboration, and success!
Assistant Principal & Athletic Director | Josh Cox
I am proud to be among the first of the Ridgeline Dragons!
I started my career as a teacher and coach at Bill Reed Middle School in 2001, and have spent every year since with middle schoolers! During my time at Bill Reed, I took on Athletic Director (AD) duties for my last four years in that building. After moving to Windsor as an 8th Grade Social Studies teacher at Windsor Middle School in 2015, I accepted the position of Dean of Students and Athletic Director at WMS, where I served as AD for six years, adding Assistant Principal to my title in 2022. I am committed to being relentlessly positive, and strive to connect with our students, staff, and community in an optimistic fashion.
I graduated from the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk!) with my Bachelor's Degree in Education in 2001, and then earned my Master's Degree in Instructional Leadership in 2008 from Colorado State University. My wife Carrie and I have three awesome boys, two at the University of Northern Colorado, and one is a Wizard at Windsor High School. In my spare time, I like to play board games, read, play basketball, attend various athletic and artistic events at Windsor High School, and watch the Jayhawks play.
